Translating Moving Pictures

From Moving Pictures

We need help translating Moving Pictures. Beginning with Moving Pictures 0.8, text found in the GUI can be completely localized. If you would like to help by translating to your native language, please follow the instructions to create a language file.

Creating A Language File

Browse to the svn repository to find the existing file for your language, or the English file, if one does not yet exist for your language.

Note: The English file will always be the most up to date language file.

Testing A Language File

After editing the file, you can test it in Moving Pictures (0.8 or above) by placing the file in your languages folder. This is typically located at %ProgramFiles%\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\language\MovingPictures, unless you have chosen a custom installation folder for Media Portal. Your file should usually be named with the two character language abbreviation. For example, Spanish is es.xml.

Be sure Media Portal is set to the correct language by going to the Media Portal configuration window, and changing the display language under General -> Skin.

If Moving Pictures does not appear to be using your file, check the MovingPictures.log file, to find if the plugin is trying to load a filename that is different from yours. Rename your file accordingly.

Submitting A Language File

To submit your language file to the development team for inclusion in Media Portal, please create a new issue on the Issue Tracker, and attach your file.
