Remote Control Filter

From Moving Pictures

(Redirected from RemoteControlFilter)

Remote Control Filter (from now on referred to as RCF) enables a user to quickly filter through a list of movies using only the numeric buttons of the remote control. If you are familiar with common mobile phone navigation the controls should already feel comfortable. With RCF it's possibile to filter by:

  • titles containing specific text.
  • titles starting with a specific letter.
  • movies released in a specific decade.
  • movies released in a specific year.

Remote Control Filtering is basically an enhanced version of the remote control search functionality built into MediaPortal. If however you would rather use the standard functionality included in MediaPortal, it is possible to disable this function (see the Configuration section below).

Contents

Configuration

To enable or disable RCF:

  • Start the plugin's configuration window
  • Click on the GUI Settings tab
  • Toggle the checkbox labeled "Use Remote Control Filtering".

When RCF is disabled the default remote control functionality of Mediaportal will be restored.

Usage

Most, if not all, remote controls have letters linked to the numeric buttons. The scheme used is universal and should look like this. RCF has two modes in which it operates: autodetect and manual. As the name suggests autodetection is active by default. Just start forming the phrase or number you are looking for and the list will be filtered, showing you every movie item that matches the possible combinations. Manual mode can be activated by pressing "0" as the first number in the sequence. To clear the active filter just press "*" or the button mapped to ESC. See the Filter description below to check what each filter does and how it is detected/activated.
