Get Involved
From Moving Pictures
Moving Pictures is an open source project driven by the community. This means that for the project to grow, we need help from people like you. There are many ways that you can contribute, so if you enjoy the plug-in, please also consider looking for ways to help in whatever way you can.
If you want to get involved but just aren't sure what you can do to help, jump onto our IRC_Channel and you can chat with other people involved with Moving Pictures. This should be your first stop when interacting with other people involved with the Moving Pictures project.

Expand and Update Documentation
As this website is a wiki, it is open for anyone to make changes and modifications, or to add new content. All that is required is a user account here on the wiki which only takes a moment to setup. If you come across a page that seems a bit rough or is lacking information, hit that edit button! If you think there is a feature that needs documentation that is not currently covered on the website, feel free to create a new page!
Translate the Documentation or Application
This website has been setup to provide documentation in English, German, Dutch, and Swedish, but unfortunately we have had few volunteers to help with translations. You can see a list of all pages currently missing translations listed here.
We also need help translating Moving Pictures itself. Beginning with Moving Pictures 1.0, all text found in the GUI can be completely localized. We already have a few translation files created but if Moving Pictures is not currently translated into your native language, please consider helping us create a translation file.
Create a New Data Source (Scraper Script)
Moving Pictures pulls movie details, artwork, and backdrops from a variety of websites and this is almost exclusively done via our scraper engine. If you know of a website that has great movie related information and/or artwork, but Moving Pictures does not currently pull data from it, consider writing a scraper script! Writing a scraper script requires knowledge of regular expressions (regex) and XML, but even if you are unfamiliar with these technologies, we would be happy to provide help.
The first place to go if you are thinking of writing a new scraper is the Scraper Script Writer's Guide. You should also jump onto our IRC_Channel if you have any questions.
Help With Development
We are always looking for additional help with development. The more developers we have, the faster that next release will arrive, so if you have any experience with software development and are interested in helping out with the project, take a peek at our Developer's_Guide and jump onto our IRC_Channel to say hello.
Help Skin the Plug-in
If you are a skinner or are interested in skinning we would be very grateful if you were to add support for Moving Pictures to your skin. You can get up to date details about the skinning aspects of Moving Pictures in the Skin_Designer's_Guide.
Help Other Users
While we are striving to create a program that is as easy to use as possible, people will inevitably have trouble at some point or another. The number one place that people go to for support is the Moving Pictures Forums. Occasionally responding to other peoples requests for support would be a tremendous help to the project.
